It's more important than ever to implement strong security measures that protect your business and data. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is one of the easiest, most effective ways to increase security around account access — and add another layer of protection against common threats like phishing attacks and account takeovers. We strongly encourage our customers to start preparing for, and implement, MFA. Now is the time for MFA!
A great way to begin your project is by enabling MFA for a few of your company’s Salesforce champions so you can get a feel for the process and collect feedback on the user experience. The first 1,000 #AwesomeAdmins to complete the steps listed below before December 9, 2020 will be eligible to receive an Astro MFA Plushie! To be eligible to receive a plushie, you must be a Salesforce customer from the U.S. with Lightning Experience or Salesforce Classic. See below for additional eligibility restrictions.
*Offer open while supplies last to administrators who are legal residents of the U.S. (incl. D.C.) and work for a Salesforce customer with access to Lightning Experience or Salesforce Classic (including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Analytics Cloud, Experience Cloud, Industries products (Consumer Goods Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, Health Cloud, Manufacturing Cloud, Philanthropy Cloud), Platform, and Salesforce Essentials). Must be 18+. Participants must complete required steps between October 28, 2020 at 9 AM PT and December 9, 2020 at 5 PM PT to be eligible to receive one (1) Astro MFA plushie. Before receiving any gift from Salesforce, please make sure this free gift complies with your employer's policies. Government employees, including all federal, state, county, city, or municipal government employees, and K-12 employees are not eligible to participate in this promotion. Limit is one (1) gift per Salesforce customer, subject to verification of eligibility and gift availability. Offer subject to change at any time.
MFA is a secure authentication method that requires users to prove their identity by supplying two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) when they log in. One factor is something the user knows, such as their username and password. Other factors are verification methods that the user has in their possession, such as an authenticator app or security key. By tying user access to multiple types of factors, MFA makes it much harder for common threats like phishing attacks, credential stuffing, and account takeovers to succeed.
Complete these steps to enable MFA in your Salesforce production org. Participants who meet the terms and conditions and complete these steps before December 9th will be eligible to claim a plushie!
Tip: Watch this short video for a demo of how to enable MFA. You’ll also learn how to prepare your champions to register Salesforce Authenticator for MFA and use the app as a second factor for logging in to Salesforce.
Select one or more Salesforce champions in your Salesforce org to help you preview MFA. Prepare them ahead of time with guidance on how to register a verification method. We recommend using the Salesforce Authenticator mobile app because it’s free and easy to set up.
Yes! Check out the new Multi-Factor Authentication Assistant, your central hub for delivering MFA to your users. The Assistant guides you through a recommended process for a successful rollout — from evaluating requirements and planning your project to implementing and launching MFA, then driving user adoption and supporting users. The Multi-Factor Authentication Assistant is available from Setup in Lightning Experience.

Feedback from users is crucial to how we design products and prioritize features. During a study, we’ll gather your feedback on an existing product, new designs, or prototypes. We do this to learn more about things like your daily usage of a product, to understand any pain points, or just to understand your overall thoughts on a feature. For each research session you participate in, you will receive an honorarium that you can redeem for money or donate to charity.
